Teacher: Ms Brett-Smith
Teaching Assistants: Miss Gage
We are learning to be independent as well as how to make good relationships with others. We really enjoy our Phonics and Maths and we are all making great progress.
Our favourite is Forest school where we are learning about Nature as well as developing our cooperation, resilience and ability to solve problems and challenge ourselves.
We are great at coming to school every day and always make our teachers smile!

Reception enjoys all competitive activities. So today was going to be fun.
I'm sure there will be many from Reception who has a sore throat from all the shouts of support.
As we are fast approaching the end of the school year, we start to notice the strong friendship bonds formed by our lovely Reception class. This stays with them through each year group at Orchard. You can see their personalities develop and this shows in team work.
They organised themselves into a building company, each having their own role to play.
Taylor became the boss and turned into Alan Sugar firing everybody. Wouldn't want to work for that company!
Mrs Gwillam & Mrs Johnson arranged a day of fun activities with male relatives and family members.
We started the morning with Harrison's dad who is a paramedic and we got to see the equipment he has to use in his job.
Next up was Muhamad's dad who is a bus driver. We learnt all about the rules of public transport.
Jack's dad told us all about taking part in a triathlon and he let us put on his swimming goggles and the very tight swimming hat.
Before lunch, we had a session of piano music, a little dance and also drawing a picture of how the music made us feel.
After lunch came the hands on fun!
Joshua's grandad 'Papa John' came and shared his cooking skills, although today we didn't cook, showing us how to make a rainbow fruit kebab.
The last visitor and definitely worth the wait, was Jacob's grandparents and mum who brought their military vehicles. We all had a good play in them and tried on the helmets.
Thank you to all who took part, it was a really enjoyable day.
Reception invited their Grandparents into school today to show them what they get up to everyday at Orchard.
After a cup of tea and a slice of cake, they went on a tour of our school. It was lovely to see the smiles on everyone's faces.
Miss Brett-Smith asked all of Reception's parents & carers to come into class today to see how writing is taught.
Remember the capital letter at the start of a sentence and of course finger spaces, finishing with a full stop.
