Our Reception class is a busy, imaginative place, full of learning and fun! Every day we carry out adult led and child initiated activities and we move between inside and outside.

We are learning to be independent as well as how to make good relationships with others. We really enjoy our Phonics and Maths and we are all making great progress.

Our favourite is Forest school where we are learning about Nature as well as developing our cooperation, resilience and ability to solve problems and challenge ourselves.

We are great at coming to school every day and always make our teachers smile!

Reception Trip on a Bus & Train

As part of the on-going theme around transport in Reception, they all went on a trip involving different modes of transport.

First up was a bus ride down to Sidcup train station. To get a better feel of riding on a bus, Reception class piled upstairs to see what it felt like on the top deck. After pushing the buttons that stated 'Stop' on them, they realised that was how you got the bus to stop.

Next method of transport was a train ride. Excitedly, they all sat down and agreed a train ride is much smoother than the bus. Every journey needs a destination and Mrs Brett-Smith did not disappoint us. After disembarking from the train and a quick pit stop to the toilets we all headed down to the park in Bexley village.

Now when the subject of transport is discussed in class they will all have a better understanding of which method gets you to your destination.

Stay and Learn - Forest School

Reception parents were invited to come along for a stay and learn session all about Forest School.

Each week the parents send in warm, waterproof clothing but I bet they don't really know what goes on in Reception on Friday afternoons. Well they do now!

The topic was to make faces from various natural sources and the hunt began.

Take a look at the photos to see the creations made from stones, twigs and other resources.
