We are learning to be independent as well as how to make good relationships with others. We really enjoy our Phonics and Maths and we are all making great progress.
Our favourite is Forest school where we are learning about Nature as well as developing our cooperation, resilience and ability to solve problems and challenge ourselves.
We are great at coming to school every day and always make our teachers smile!
1 January 2017
Today was FUDGE Day, where fathers, uncles, dads, grandads and everyone who is of the male gender come in to share their interests or goals with us.
Reception class had many visitors which we all enjoyed listening to.
Reception class welcomed their parents and carers in to see a science lesson.
They were learning about seasons.
Which season is their favourite and why. Many children liked the summer because that is when paddling pools are inflated but some chose winter for the snow and autumn for the colours.
Reception have been learning about healthy eating and what foods can help you to lead a healthy lifestyle. We went to the Tesco store in Sidcup to go behind the scene to see what goes on!
Pauline greeted us as soon as we arrived and directed us through a door which we would have normally walked past but this time we saw what was beyond. Up the stairs and through the staff canteen we dressed ourselves in Tesco friendly tabbards and hats ready for the action.
First, we headed for the warehouse and were amazed how organised the stock and deliveries are. Pauline encouraged us to stand in the huge freezer which we all agreed was not a comfortable experience. Too cold for our little fingers and toes.
Then out to the store to try a selection cheeses and to see a mackerel fish up close and a crab from the fish mongers.
Next was the warm and welcoming bakery where Pauline explained that we had to be careful not to touch because of hot ovens and also the hygiene of the food being made there. The bakery was the best place, it was full of huge bread making equipment! Pauline allowed us to try a cheese bread and a Mediterranean bread. They were yummy!
After finding various colour foods amongst the fruit and vegetable section, our trip had come to an end.
Thank you Tesco for allowing us to experience your store and explaining the healthy foods that we could buy.
Coach Gurdip takes Reception class for P.E on a Tuesday morning and it is a popular lesson. Reception pupils have a lot of energy so running around and playing games is a perfect way to start a morning.
P.E is not only about fun, it also helps children with fitness and a healthy lifestyle, which is our topic in class. Teachers talk about skill development which is really important especially in Early Years with helping to strengthen motor skills.
