Teacher: Miss Maddison
Teaching Assistants: Miss Gage, Miss Mitchell & Mrs Say
We are learning to be independent as well as how to make good relationships with others. We really enjoy our Phonics and Maths and we are all making great progress.
Our favourite is Forest school where we are learning about Nature as well as developing our cooperation, resilience and ability to solve problems and challenge ourselves.
We are great at coming to school every day and always make our teachers smile!
1 January 2017
The Easter bunny came early at Orchard!
Reception went on a hunt to find the eggs tat the bunny had accidently dropped all over our outdoor area.
The PTA rewarded them with a bag of chocolate eggs - yummy!
Every Friday, Miss Brett-Smith takes Reception to our outdoor area that has been turned into a Forest School nature ground.
Reception pupils love to be outside, investigating, building, climbling and digging. It is great for social skills as well as being part of a team and learning to work together.
This Friday, parents and carers were invited to join in with the fun and the weather was good.
Reception class went to Footscray Meadows, for a bear hunt.
We have been reading the book called 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' this half term.
So, with our wellies on we headed off to experience the story for real. Well not quite real as the bear turned out to be Sebastian who felt lonely and decided to come back to school with us. After the excitement of wading through the grass, splashing through the river and squelching through the mud in search of a bear. It was time to come back to school for a well earned lunch.
It was a sad day today, Miss Maddison was leaving us after spending two months in our class.
Who is Miss Maddison?
She is a newly qualified teacher, who came to help us learn lots of interesting things.
What better way to say goodbye, then to throw a party!
And Reception loves a party.
Miss Brett-Smith got the dressing-up clothes out and we were ready.
Lots of games, dancing and of course party food.
Thank you Miss Maddison for all your hard work in Reception.
We will miss you.
