We work in a fun and safe learning environment where the ethos is for everyone to try your best ‘have a go even if you don’t know’.
We start our day off the same way each morning. We love going to work with our various adults for phonics and move onto our handwriting and literacy. After a well earned break we settle down to our maths sessions which are fast and full of fun activities. Guided reading comes next where we show off all our reading skill from decoding the text to predicting what will happen next. After lunch we engage in our creative activities.
To find out more about our class and what activities we have been undertaking on a daily basis then please take a look at the details below. This page will be regularly updated with new material so please keep checking back for new information.

Year 1 have been learning about 'Under the Sea' so Miss Shooter decided the best place to discover what lives in the sea was to go to the London Aquarium.
After the train ride, Year 1 headed into the dark surroundings of the aquarium to experience for themselves what creatures live in the sea and they were not disappointed. In the vast tanks they saw stingrays moving up the glass panels with their angel like faces and then they spotted the sharks much to everyone's excitement in the Shark Walk.
In the viewing area they got to touch a starfish and then feed the stingrays and listen to an expert about where they live and their habitat. The fun didn't stop there it was time to head towards the frozen extremities of the Antarctic and experience life with a colony of Gentoo Penguins. Peguins are great entertainers and they put on a performance of diving, splashing and goofing about under the water for us.
Well Year 1 definitely now know what lives under the sea!
We enjoy art in Year 1 so with Mother's Day fast approaching we decided to make cards.
