Gurdwara Temple

Year 3 have been learning about Sikh religion in their RE lessons.

Miss Sharma arranged for them to visit the temple in Belvedere to experience the values of their culture and religion as well as tasting Indian food.

They were very fortunate to be invited into the main room or the Darbar Sahib to see the book of Sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, which is treated with the respect that would be given to a human Guru. The ceremonial food was offered after the service, called Parshad, which is a sweet made from equal quantities of wheat flour, sugar, and clarified butter.

It was interesting to see the Darbar Sahib as they have been learning about it's meaning and purpose in class.

The warmth and generosity of everyone at the Temple is completely infectious and it is no surprise that we all left wishing to be a part of such a welcoming community.

Maths Subtraction

In maths today, Miss Sharma explained that she needed help to book a cheap holiday.

Year 3 are very good at using problem solving skills with addition and subtraction in a column method.

Everyone knows when booking a holiday you need to shop around for the best flight prices as well as the hotel and of course don't forget Miss Sharma likes shopping so they had to leave enough money for that.

Let's hope that they succeeded with this maths dilema and Miss Sharma was a happy teacher!
