Year 4

Teacher: Mrs Johnson & Mrs Marriott
Teaching Assistant: Miss Little
In Year 4, we are a hard working class who always try our best at all times. We enjoy sharing our ideas and showing what we have learnt through practical activities as well as more formal written tasks.

Throughout the year we base our learning around a topic.
The three topics for the year and the linked texts are:
Chocolate and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
Recycling and The Iron Man,
What a Wonderful World and Tales Told in Tents and Mouse, Bird, Snake, Wolf.

As Year 4 is such a key year, we are encouraged to be responsible for our own learning and behaviour. Our key rule is 'Respect' - for ourselves, our classmates, adults in the school, equipment and our class and school environment.

Our teachers hope that by the end of the year we will be confident, independent and enthusiastic learners, ready to face the challenges and fun in Year 5.

London Zoo

Year 4 went on a trip to London Zoo to see what environment mini-beasts live in as part of their Science subject this term. They headed off to the Reptile House to see London Zoo's amazing collection of reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, lizards, frogs and crocodiles! It was interesting to see the different environments that they live in and it was a shock to see the Annam Leaf Turtle living in a kitchen!

The butterfly house was incredibly hot which the butterflies love but it was too overwhelming for the rest of us.

Year 4 have been reading 'Krindlekrax' so they hunted around for crocodiles and they were not dissapointed when they stumbled onto a magnicient creature. What was worrying was the way the crocodile spotted Year 4 and moved slowly towards the glass and then opened it's mouth it a very menacing way. It felt like Krindlekrax was up from the sewers causing fear whilst hunting for his next slice of toast.

Theatre Workshop

The whole school were fortunate to watch a production of 'The Wizard of Oz' but we were even more lucky to partake in a session of drama.

Acting is a favourite of our class so we all joined in and learn't a few tips from the professionals.
