Year 5

Teacher: Mrs Hannick
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Carson
In Year 5, we are becoming aware of our own strengths and interests and areas of development. Mrs Hannick encourages us to ‘give it a go’ even if we don’t succeed. This will help us to become more confident learners and not fear failure. As long as we have tried our best, the ethos of the class is that we will get there in the end.

In our class, we are encouraged to be independent and creative in our learning and to think for ourselves and not to always rely on others.

To find out more about our class and what activities we have been undertaking on a daily basis, then please take a look at the details below. This page will be regularly updated with new material, so please keep checking back for new information.

Greenwich Observatory

Continuing with the topic Space, Year 5 went on a trip to Greenwich Observatory to gaze at the universe. From the smallest planets to the largest galactic superclusters, they had the chance to explore the scale of the Solar System, galaxy and universe. If Year 5 are not more knowledgeable or inspired to be the next Tim Peake then I'm sure Mrs Hannick will be the one to pursue life in space!

Astronomy Night

Continuing with the Project Curriculum about Space, Year 5 held an evening called Astronomy Night.

Year 5 pupils took part in a carousel of activities linked to the theme of space.

They also had the opportunity of viewing the stars through a telescope.
