Nativity 2015

KS1 has been busy rehearsing for their nativity for the past few days and at last they performed their show 'Hump the Camel' to their parents and family on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nursery were the angels, Reception the stars, Year 1 the wise men and Year 2 were narrators and shepherds.

What an amazing show from the younger members of our school, they acted and sang with such enthusiasm which made us all feel very proud of them. Well done KS1.

Roman Day

Year 3 have been looking at Rome as part of their Project Curriculum.

They discovered how Rome was created. Two brothers named Romulus and Remus, who were the sons of the god Mars, and they both got in a fight after Remus made fun of Romulus. Remus was killed and Romulus named the new city 'Roma' after himself.

They have been looking at the geography of Italy, their culture and entertainment.

The pupils dressed in Roman attire and made bread like a true Italian.

Carols by Candlelight

It is almost Christmas, so it is time to start the celebrations!!

Mrs Gwillam organised the popular 'Carols by Candlelight' evening on Friday 4th December.

Parents and pupils arrived with tinsel, Christmas jumpers and even reindeer antlers on a few. The choir were the main attraction singing a medley of Christmas themed songs to entertain the audience.

Mrs Petrozzi's performing arts club whipped the crowd up with a rendition of a Dickens Christmas ready for the finale of "A Partridge in a Pear Tree".

After all the mince pies and mulled wine were finished it was time to head home. Thank you to all who attended, it helps us to raise funds and it brings Orchard Primary community together.

Careers & Aspirations Day

This is a day for our pupils to be inspired for their future.

Most schools would hold this event in Secondary schools only, but why wait to see what opportunities and career paths are out there. Some people wish that they knew the various job options that they could have pursued.

Orchard Primary pupils are fortunate that our community comes into school to give them a taste of what their jobs involve and that through hard work you can achieve what you wish to be.

There was a varied selection of professionals who gave us their time to talk and demonstrate their job roles. It was a very busy day and one which the pupils enjoy to participate in. The police and fire brigade are always popular but this year we had a scientist and make up artist amongst the visitors.

Thank you to all who gave their time and to Miss Little for arranging this event.
