After School Club
After school care is for children over the age of 3 years from Orchard Primary School, and other schools within the borough. (We currently collect from Birkbeck and Royal Park schools)

We are open from 3.15 pm until 6.15 pm daily. Cost is from £6.00 per session discounts offered for siblings.

Whilst here, your child will be able to participate in numerous activities, play with their friends, and meet children from other schools, all in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with caring, qualified staff.

Staff work closely with the children to settle them into the setting. As a result, children are becoming confident learners. Ofsted December 2014

We also help the children with their homework and reading every evening. Your child will receive a home cooked meal every day at 4.30 pm where the children will be able to have an input in preparing and making these meals. They will also have access to our unlimited salad bar.

Children are happy and enjoy their time in the setting allowing them to progress well with their learning and development. Ofsted December 2014

We also have full use of the school playground, and ICT suite.
Under The Sea

Theme this Term

After School Club’s theme for the upcoming term is Summer.

When the children were asked what do you think of when you think of summer?
The main answer was the beach. This is when ‘under the sea’ display was created.
The children had a range of materials they could use to create the fish and other sea
creatures that can be found under the sea.

The children started by making the fish and whales, using paper plates to make the bodies of the fish; then using scissors, the children cut the paper plates into different shapes to make the fins and tailfins of their fish. The children then used other materials such as: crepe paper, shiny paper, gem stones to add patterns, colours and textures to finish the fish’s features along with facial features using eyes and cutting shapes into the plates for their mouths.

Some children chose to make jelly fish. The children who made these did so by painting their hands and printing them onto paper, then using scissors they cut the jelly fish out turning their hand print upside down to make the jelly fish. Using gem stones, the children used these for the tentacles and then used eyes and other materials to finish their facial features. The children also used green shiny paper to make seaweed by drawing and using scissors to cut them out.

These activities help the children in After School Club to learn the skills for creativity, eye-hand co-ordination, imagination and fine motor-skills.
